Profile
Darren Magee is a biomedical engineer, medical technology innovator and healthcare engineering executive with more than three decades' experience across clinical engineering, medical device innovation and industrial technology. A former Royal Air Force Biomedical Engineer, he has held CEO and director-level roles, including senior leadership in Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering at St George's, Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
A prize-winning designer and recipient of the UK Department of Trade & Industry SMART Award for Innovation, Darren has generated and led intellectual property portfolios valued in the hundreds of millions of pounds. In 2022 his company Holistium Technologies Ltd was named a finalist at the World Sustainability Awards for innovation in air-pollution control. He has advised UK government through NHS England Task & Finish Groups, works closely with NHS Innovation North and associated health-innovation hubs, and spent three years as Chief Biomedical Engineer for the KSA Royal Commission at the Aramco Industrial City Hospital in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. His specialist audits of healthcare-associated engineering performance are in high demand — exposing legacy failure and operational drift, then stabilising and reversing them at pace to restore governance, quality and value.
At Jenova Partners, Darren leads advisory and executive search across healthcare technology, medical devices and clinical engineering, drawing on his operating and innovation experience to support clients through growth, transformation and innovation readiness.
Outside work, Darren is a dedicated family man, a long-standing STEM Ambassador and Engineering Council Neighbourhood Engineer, and Chair and Founder of the Earth Science & Technology Association (ESTA).
